We are rewiring our entire two story office and purchased this to cut the cable covering to get at the wires. It was terrible! It cut the TP cables as well as the covering. After struggling with it for a couple of days we finally gave up, returned it, and purchased a different brand that we have had no problems with. Don't waste your time or money on this one.

Used this tool for decades in the industrial electrical field. Great for cordsets and Belden type cables as well as smaller gauge sj cords.

This works great for cables that have thicker jackets, such as SJ and SO cords. It is not so good for thin jackets like network cabling, as it does not have precise cut depth control.

If you have never tried, it is really difficult to strip the outer sheath from multi-conductor wires (like cloth-covered lamp cords) without cutting through the insulation for the wires within. This device does it quickly and dependably. No way to sharpen or replace the blade though.

Bpught this because i have an identical one I have been using for 15 years thay finally went dull. This is identical in form and function. Great stripper for low voltage cable, makes the job quick and easy.

It's not the most ergonomic jacket stripped I've used, however having the blade angled and being able to do both deeper and shallower cuts depending on the wire has been really handy for certain problematic wire sheathing. So I'm happy with it.

Nice is a nice, cheap stripper to use for stripping the outer jacket insulation off of multi-conductor cable or stripping large gauge wire. Unless you're stripping a metal shielded cable, you do need to be careful to not cut through more than you need to. The blade is very sharp and cuts through insulation jacket very quickly and it is easy to cut deeper than you need and nick the insulation of the inner wires or the wire itself.Similar professional grade jacket strippers feature an adjustable stop to limit how deep the blade cuts (try searching 5110-01-614-1174 on amazon to see a Panduit stripper with this feature) but these are 3X the cost. If you are going to be doing a lot of wiring and don't want to have to pay as much attention while stripping cable, get the better tool. I originally thought this stripper had this feature when I ordered it and was disappointed to see it did not.For a budget stripper this gets the job done just fine though as long as you pay attention to what you're doing. The blade cannot be changed so consider this a disposable tool. It also uses a large rubber band for it's closing force which could dry out and break over time. You can replace it if you can find the correct rubber band size but that may be difficult.
