  • Round Die: Thread size: M18 X 1; outside diameter (OD): 45mm / 1.8"; Thickness: 10mm / 0.4"; accuracy class: 6g; fine grinding. Made of alloy steel, hardness, high torque, good toughness and wear-resistance for long service life.
  • Applications: Can process, correct or clean the external threads. Suitable for general purpose threading in stainless steel, aluminum alloy, cast iron, copper, iron, aluminum, plastic, etc.. Great for maintenance and repair work on pipes, boards and machinery.
  • Features: Conical locking hole, strong locking and not loose. Perfect for re-threading existing threads in hard materials like metal and making new threads in soft material such as plastic. The surface is lubricated with grease to prevent rust, the thread is clear and easy to repair.
  • Easy to Use: The positioning groove of the die should be aligned with the fastening screw in the middle of the die wrench, and the screw should be inserted into the slot of the die and tightened. The end of the bar should be chamfered 1*45 degree, and the chamfer is too large to cut in.
  • Tips: It needs to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate the chip discharge from the chip hole. Suitable lubricating oil should be added to the cutting edge of the die when tapping the thread. The bar diameter should be smaller ( about 0.05mm-0.15mm) than the nominal diameter of the required thread. Excessive diameter can easily cause difficult cutting and lead to damage to the die teeth.

Information

  • Dies can process external threads, and be divided into a cutting part, a positioning part and a chip hole. Dies have round dies, square dies, hex dies according to the shape. They are also called as ordinary thread dies, pipe thread dies and tapered pipe thread dies according to the purpose.
  • Use chip fluid (oil) to obtain quality threads, and it is also suitable for thread maintenance. Suitable lubricating oil is conducive to cutting or cooling, making cutting easier, improving smoothness and dimensional accuracy.

Applications

  • Round threading dies are suitable for general purpose threading.
  • Can process, correct or clean the external threads. Good for maintenance and repair work.

Lubricating Oil

  • Lubricant should be applied to the cutting edge. It can help to extend the service life of tools in tapping operations.
  • Suitable lubricating oil is conducive to cutting or cooling, making cutting easier, improving smoothness and dimensional accuracy.
  • It needs to be reversed every 1/4~1/2 turn to facilitate the chip discharge from the chip hole.

Notice

  • Check the specification and outer diameter of the die and the clamping range of the die wrench to ensure that the two match. Choose a suitable screwdriver to unscrew the fixing screws on the main body of the die wrench.
  • Put the die into the clamping body of the die wrench, and turn the die slightly to make the side hole of the die consistent with the position of the wrench fixing screw.
  • Tighten the screws with a suitable screwdriver, so that the die and the wrench can be closely combined. When operating the tapping tool into a semicircle, it must be retracted to ensure that the chips are discharged in time.

M16x1 threads should be 15.88mm od this cuts threads at 15.50mm unacceptable the die should be split and it’s not so there’s no adjusting even when cutting threads on 16mm stock they come out 15.50 cuts decent but pretty useless will need to be split and re sized to work properly

I needed to go back and forth over the threads for about an hour before everything was completely fixed. But the shaft is hardened steel, so I was just impressed that it could be fixed.

Obviously I used it to make threads on steel and it did work fine. This is not the sort of thing you look at and say WOW. It does appear to be of quality material and accurately made.

Used it to chase threads on the crank of my KDX220, did the job just fine. It was 100% my fault for damaging the threads but this saved my a$$ tons of money. Albeit this was used to repair damaged threads as opposed to cutting new threads but it did what I needed it do at the right price.
