You can never have too much chassis stiffness. Weight aside, the more the better. Chassis bracing maintains alignment angles and spring rates by greatly reducing body or chassis flex. In fact, it helps every component in the suspension system do its job properly and you can feel the difference through improved turn-in, sharper steering response along with greater steering feedback.

A good looking shock tower brace. Does it help? Maybe. It adds a nice visual under hood and seems to shake less over bumps.

Finish was OK, but it did not fit correctly. The brace bar extending across the engine just touches the intake manifold plenum. This is thin cast aluminum and a sharp blow from the brace would almost certainly crack it. I took a very short drive on a relatively smooth road, and saw that the anodizing on the brace and the surface of the plenum were marked where they touched. Clearly hitting irregularities and potholes will damage the intake plenum, as the engine of course moves on its rubber mounts and the frame moves. If it didn't the brace would have no purpose!I tried washers under the brace supports, but the studs from the shocks/coilovers weren't long enough to allow sufficient raising of the brace. I've taken the threaded attachment stud from the right end of the brace and it's at a machine shop right now so that I can get the hole in it offset vertically by 3/8" to provide safe clearance for the brace over the intake manifold. My Miata has never been accidented, modified, or raced and it's front-end geometry is factory. You need to re-design at least one end of the brace so that it's height over the engine can be adjusted.
