About this item

  • Massive cast iron vise body is virtually indestructible, weighing up to 30% more than competing models
  • Locking swivel base with double lockdowns for non-slip hold in any position
  • Sealed construction keeps lubrication in and contaminants out for a lifetime of smooth operation
  • Hardened steel replaceable jaw inserts are machine serrated for a safe and secure grip under maximum torque
  • Large anvil is designed to take a beating while forming and shaping materials
  • Precision slide bar eliminates movement in the front jaw, regardless of opened distance
  • Proudly made in the USA and designed to handle the most demanding clamping applications

Proudly made in the USA, the Machinist round channel vise is designed to handle the most demanding clamping applications. Unlike most vises that have a fixed center nut, the Machinist vise nut is anchored at the rear which provides straight line pull and even pressure resulting in greater durability. The round channel design also allows for a completely enclosed spindle and nut assembly keeping debris out and lubrication in for a lifetime of smooth operation. The Machinist vise is also equipped with main jaws and a machined anvil work surface.

Very nice manufacturer packaging. You would think with a +60lb vise there would be shipping issues but it arrived in mint condition. This vise is a beast. I am very happy with my made in USA vise purchase.

This is a monstrous vice. I definitely overspent/overdid it for my needs. That’s not to say this vice isn’t worth it. Luckily I have the space and can accommodate this thing. It will more than likely last 3-4 generations with how rock solid it has been built.Thought I was simply paying for USA manufacturing, but I got that and a lot more!

If you are a professional mechanic, machinist or serious do-it-yourselfer this is the go-to vise you have been looking for. Right materials, superb design and expert craftsmanship, all made in America. I will be replacing a vise that I purchased years ago that I recently learned was a Chinese knockoff of a Yost vise which is just wrong so it has to go. You need to be careful when buying from Wilton. Most of their vises are made overseas with substandard materials and workmanship. If it has a blue sticker on it instead of "Wilton" as part of the casting then it is no better than what you can buy for a fraction of the price from Harbor Freight. One more thing, this is a 300, the jaws are about 3" wide, and the vise weighs about 30 pounds. The 400 is about 4" wide and weighs about 62 pounds so it is much larger. There are a couple larger than the 400. I purchased this one to check the quality and now I am going to order a 400. Looked around and Amazon appears to be the best place to buy these since all sales look to be either on-line or special orders.

This may be “just” a vise, but it is Built. Very. Well. It becomes an heirloom the second you unbox it. It’ll be around that long, I’m absolutely certain. I use Wilton vises at work, and they’ve been there literally for decades, abused by multiple users, and still function like the day they were installed. It’s more expensive than a Chineseium vise, and I’m sure those vises do the same job as this one, too. I had an overseas vise until a few months ago. When it broke, I made the decision to keep my money on these shores, and bought this one. It’s miles ahead of the cheaper vises I found at local big box home centers. I may have spent more for “just” a vise than others might have, but I’m satisfied on multiple levels that I have my own Wilton vise, made in the U.S.A.
