There's a reason this is such a cheap mag wire puller. Magnets are weak. There is no way this will work though a wall. The large bait magnet barely attaches to the scout, let alone through a wall. This isn't totally useless, but pretty close. Avoid.

I ordered this magnetic wire puller to help me feed wire through a baseboard in my living room down to my basement. I had been having trouble using a traditional wire tape, so I figured I'd give this a try. The magnets simply were not strong enough to work through the baseboard. Additionally, the smaller cylindrical leader broke when pulling it back through the hole. Ultimately I ended up using a piece of metal garden spike as a lead and the neodymium magnet from an old failed hard drive as the magnet. I will give this product a couple stars as the string is long and sturdy and the bright green color made it easily visible in the mess of insulation through which I had to pull it.
