I bought my husband the lap harp for Christmas that uses this music, but we have had trouble getting the instrument in tune. It doesn't seem to hold. So we haven't been able to actually use this music.

This book is compiled for an instrument that is more a toy than anything else. Your kid will not learn anything about music by using this book. There is nothing to do with the selections except put them below the strings and pluck out a tune one note at a time. A trained dog can do that. Further as these instruments are mostly tuned to the key of C, some tunes that require sharps and/or flats won't sound correct. There are some tunes in this book that substitute a natural note for what should be a sharped or flatted note and it sounds just wrong, actually it sounds terrible. I recommend this book as a great recyclable and not a book that teaches anything.

Some stuff missing. Batteries have been dead for a long time. Dead batteries just weigh a bunch. I had to pay shipping, but it was because of the weight of the dead batteries. Also missing is the Melody Keyboard Overlay. Because of his missing piece, I cannot plan the Melody. And does someone print music for this instrument? And is there a "Instructional DVD" for sale. I'm 81 & I am trouble learning to play.

I bought this for my granddaughter for Christmas. I did need to tune it, and found some help online with tuning, luckily I have an ear for it. If you don't, you'll need someone to assist. It sounds great, and is a lot of fun. I enjoyed "testing" it !

To begin with the design of the booklet is well thought-out utilizing a spiral binding so NO MORE LOST SHEET MUSIC like with the other loose-leaf music packets. One simply chooses the desired song to play by flipping through the booklet, then place the entire booklet under the strings of the zither to play. Also contained in the spiral-bound booklet is a rhythm lesson and tuning guide. The author, Debbie Center, is a musician and music teacher who initially came up with the idea to arrange music for her own child when she was only 3 years old! Each volume contains songs that children of all ages (and adults) know the tune and therefore can easily play by following the diagramed notes that fall under the string to be played.More advanced songs are also included in each volume to challenge children and also for adult enjoyment. The teacher in Ms. Center also provides interesting/fun facts about the composers. To play the zither/lap harp utilizing the World of Harmony music books, one does NOT need to know how to read music, and the arrangements are such that you and your child will be playing well-known children's songs as well as Bach, Mozart, Vivaldi and others right away!I care for our 4 year old grandson while our daughter and son-in-law work during the day so I'm always looking for fun, yet educational activities we can do together. Music teaches many useful skills such as rhythm, timing, (counting) patience and a love of beautiful and interesting sounds around us under the guise of just plain old fun. The ease of use Ms. Center's product brings my grandson and me together for an enchanting time of playing music where age or musical skill doesn't matter. It's a time when we can delight in each others company! As an adoring grandmother (and just for myself too), I LOVE WORLD OF HARMONY MUSIC BOOKS!

The song selection is broad and appealing. The book fits right into the lap harp. It is not too involved or technical, so my 8 & 10 year-olds can just pick it up and play beautiful music. I ask them to play while I'm folding laundry and it is very relaxing. The composer notes that go along with each song are a very interesting introduction to the composers.

The creator of this music really knows what she's doing. These instruments can only play a limited number of notes so it's a real art to make faithful reproductions of great works and that's exactly what this collection does. It's a blessing that such a talented musician has taken the time to precisely place each note in the right place for these instruments and make sure the timing is perfect. The only bad thing I can say about the collections is I wish there were more from this company!
