I replaced the original unit with this unit and it immediately threw a fault code (saying the engine was low in coolant) and it was also leaking from the seams. . This is incredibly poor quality. Don’t waste your money with this. I got angry and just threw it away and bought a genuine one.

If your coolant level sensor has failed, and/or your coolant reservoir is leaking, just buy this. It takes about 10 minutes to replace and is easy to do. Even the cap is high quality. I replaced the plastic bleeder screw with a brass one though - my last plastic bleeder screw failed years ago. BMW plastics under the hood are not to be trusted.
