All Yamaha Sax's come with the famous 4C mouthpiece. I purchased this 3C in complete ignorance (beginner) of the different mouthpieces (sizes, material, etc.). If you are looking for a good mouthpiece them move up from the 4C to a Meyer, Vandoren, Otto Link, anything but this "step-down" one. The ONLY reason for anyone to play on this 3C would be some facial physical or dental problem that would require such a small tip-opening & chamber.

Nice product and seller was easy to work with. Another had already been purchased as a gift, so I had to return this one. It was really nice, and the return process simple

This is a very good all around mouthpiece for the beginner Saxophone player, as myself. I was looking for a mouthpiece that I could put on some of the softer reeds, from 1.5 to 2.5 and be able to play reasonably well for a beginner. This one is just a bit easier to play on than my Yamaha 4C Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece. Since Yamaha is so keen into their musical instruments, they have a tendency to make mouthpieces designed for easy of blowing.

My son took up the alto sax a couple of months ago. We rented a beginner instrument from a local music store and started to go to band. My son had lots of problems playing. I picked it up and tried, and it was difficult even for me to play. I thought it might be leaking, but then I looked at the mouthpiece that had come with the rental and found the tip opening to be about twice the opening on my tenor. I got this mouthpiece, and all of a sudden we can both play easily. I liked it so much, that I bought a 4C to use with either my son's alto, or while helping others get the hang of playing as beginners.Turns out the the student instrument is a real joy to play - made by Cannonball if you are looking for a lead on a relatively inexpensive but good-playing instrument.
