These needles have a completely round shank for industrial sewing machines. These are probably good needles that should get a 5 star review. I am giving them 4 stars in the hopes that those who won't be able to use these needles notice this review.If your needle has a flat side on the large end, you need universal needles. Most home sewing machines use universal needles.
