This is just as described. It is well made, accurate and a heck of a value. I am very happy with this purchase.

its a really inexpensive K Type Thermocouple. I had low expectations for it. I needed a longer thermocouple to measure a container on the other side of the room. This was worth a shot.My main issues with it are that it reads about 2C off from my more expensive thermocouples. Its more of a hobby grade product than something I'd use for reliable and accurate measurements. My other issue is that the connectors seem to be a little too short and it sometimes loses connection/signal when plugged into my meter. If you need something hobby grade, this may work for you if the connectors work in your meter.

In what reality is this an acceptable way to ever make an electrical connection? Doing this on to a Thermocouple that is by nature extremely sensitive to voltage... It's an absolute disgrace.

I don’t think you can do much wrong with a type K thermocouple. I got this to check our oven temp and it ought to handle that, but the high temperature spec is a bit low, around 350F. I can live with it. The insulation looks adequate and the diameter is small enough to close the oven door on. The accuracy is within a few degrees, at least in the range of around 32 to 100F that is easy for me to check, and the small error that I see is as likely to come from my meter as from the thermocouple wires. It’ll do the job.

This is a functional thermocouple with a 30 foot lead wire and K type connector. The electrical connection at the K plug could have been constructed better but this is easily remedied with a soldering iron if you wish. Otherwise the thermocouple puts out good voltage data your device will translate into a temperature. I use it with a Craftsman voltmeter to check water temps at depths up to 20 feet to figure out where the trout are. I have no complaints.

Sensor works if you hold in in the meter. Unfortunately the connector prongs are not long enough to work in some meters. I tried using it in my Cen-Tech and my Cornwell meters.

See the photo comparing another thermocouple in the same air temperature to this one. This one is off by about 18 degrees F (10 C)! I confirmed the accuracy of the top reading by comparing to another calibrated thermometer that is 1 F accurate. I also confirmed that all the meter channels read about the same temperature using this probe.Beyond that, even the spades on the connector are cheap. Instead of being flat and solid, a dimple has been stamped into the terminal to expand it to the normal thickness. The plastic of the connector is not the high quality glass-filled stuff, either, it's some cheap kind of plastic. There are no explicit specifications given for the maximum temperature of the braided insulation outside the wire. I would hope that it can go to 180 C. But the product page says "Material: Metal, Plastic; Net Weight: 78g". If the insulation is plastic (it's not metal), I'd be concerned about using it at higher temperatures. All in all, not that satisfying a product.
