These discs might be good for automotive use but not for paint removal on houses

I like these pads for the price was real good. I used them to remove lake growth from aluminum frame.

We’ve ordered hundreds of dollars of these discs in the process of building a 5000 square foot log home. We’ve sanded every inch of the logs inside and out with them as well as our rough cut stair stringers and banister. They do an excellent job. You’ll be surprised how smooth you can get the wood— just as good as using a fine grit paper. They are the best per unit price I’ve seen on this type of disc and they work way WAY better than flap disc sanders. They usually last about 30-40 min before the pad is worn down. You can cover a lot of ground in that time. I only gave it a 4 on durability because occasionally we get a pack that gets eaten up a little faster—not sure why but I assume it’s a quality control thing. Overall I would recommend buying because we have purchased them again and again with pretty good results. Note: when we first bought them we did find them a little tricky to tighten on the grinder ( we use Milwaukee ) because they are so thick. But it can be done and now it’s no problem. Just hold the grinder wrench at a slight angle and crank it down.

I've never used any other paint stripping wheel with my angle grinder, so I don't have much experience, but this one seemed to work well. I had a steel sign made but didn't like the finish that was on it and preferred a raw look. The sign is about 36" x 12" and had a clearcoat over a finish. It took four or five discs to remove the finish. I then used a 60 grit sanding wheel to remove the black residue that the sanding discs left and had the look I wanted.

i have used many grinding discs, this one is the only one that lasts longer than 15 minuts. Got all the rust off all the paint. does not harm metal. good stuff

It does the job but wears out to quick on a grinder, would be better on slower speed.

I have always used wire brush cups to remove rust and paint, and I have to say these are life changing. They work well for rust but removing paint is really where they shine. I was using an old harbor freight angle grinder with these, which is probably close to a 3 amp motor. What really impressed me was how they didn't bog it down enough to ruin the effectiveness, so I would say if you have any reasonablly powered grinder they will work great as the one I used is probably about one of the most under powered you can get. As far as durability goes, they do well away from edges. Grinding edges tends to remove the material much faster. The abrasive is like a rubber sponge coated in ceramic particles, so one of the nice things about these is they are relatively safe to use in two ways. The material ejected from the grinder is just rubber and dust, so if you need to remove the guard there is less concern about throwing grit or wires, which can be painful. Second, once they eat through the paint they do little to damage the underlying metal. I also like how they are flexible, which helps for use on uneven surfaces. In truth, these disks worked so good at removing multiple layers of paint on old body parts and I was so impressed by how well they were suited to that, I felt I needed to write a review.

I have an old house and these discs are great when used on my Milwaukee 4.5 inch angle grinder, for removing / prepping old painted exterior walls. These discs work as well as those from HD and are better than those from Harbor Freight (IMHO), and they are 1/3 the cost. This wouldn't be an issue if you have a very small surface you are cleaning up, but on a large exterior wall I may end going through 15 - 20 of these things (they wear out after about 15 - 30 sq/ft). As with all of these stripping pads, if you have multiple layers of paint, and a constant speed (11K rpm) grinder, you must keep pressure light not to just melt and smear the paint, but that's true of all of these pads. Great product, would buy again.
