For years I have put 4x4 treated posts into concrete and after hearing so many professional builders say you should wrap the posts I started doing this. Water and any type of wood do not mix and even treated lumber can rot over time. These wraps help protect the post in the concrete from moisture. Only thing they should include is a roll of tape to cover the bottom of the post, these only protect the 4 sides.

These are a very cost effective solution for post rot prevention. Compared to composite post tubes and wrap post sleeves these butyl sheets are a great buy. If you’ve used butyl joist tape or window wrap it’s the exact same material just thicker. These are about 1mm, it stretches and can be heated to seal tightly around the post making installation easy and the fit perfect. If you add an extra five minutes when setting a post to place these sleeves at this price you will get extended post lifespan. Overall saving you money and the labor of replacing posts when they rot.

This was worth it. I was not sur ehow they would work. I used these on my 4x4 posts and even tho they are pressure treated I wanted to be a little more safe. Make sure you put these on ticght and firm. I noticed if you do not and have air pockets then that is the area that will not fill up wth concrete firm around it. I need to get a few more now that I understand how they work and they work really good.

I wish there had been a product like this years ago but I’m glad it exists now! Posts will often rot off at or just below ground level and these post protectors help prolong the life of a post set in the ground. I’ve used other brands and these are very similar those in application and materials. They’re very easy to apply to the posts and I expect them to do as they’re designed to do, which is great as I just installed some new fence panels.

This coating looks and feels like a thin rubber sheet. Sticky on one side, this material is not difficult to apply. Good design.

For now, rather than fence posts, I'm using a sheet of this to protect the new post for a mailbox I'm moving. We get a fair amount of freeze-thaw where I live, including periods of rain and snow mixed with very hot and dry days. My last post didn't do too well. Based on my experience not using this type of protection the last time, and not wanting to have the look of pressure-treated wood for my mailbox post, using something like this seems like a good idea for not much money. It feels like it will be very durable. It was easy to cut to the size I wanted, and peeling and wrapping were easy. I started on one corner of the post so it would wrap more squarely around it. I also overlapped the wrap at the back of the post. That said, I only left about three inches showing above ground, which I hope is enough. For me, it looks good and gives the post a metal post holder feel at the bottom without that cost.I'm not sure just how much longer these will help my post last, but they should help a lot. For the price of wood and the cost of installing posts, it seems like a very smart and reasonable purchase for what feels like a good-quality product at a good price.
