I'm using these to hold subjects for macro photography and they work very well. They are stiff enough to hold their position but can still easily adjusted.

Mate two heavy-duty alligator clips with a miniature gooseneck and it's a tinkerer's match made in heaven. I'm using them to modify a 4 LED spotlight ceiling lamp, clipping on a small square of diffuser plastic a few inches in front of the mini spotlights. These clips do the job and look cool doing it.
