I replaced The 500K potentiometer with a 200k one. I was only able to control my element with a quarter of the 500K potentiometer now I have use of 3/4 of the pot.

The basic components are there except the graduated dial plate. It's pictured but wasn't included.

The first time I used the SCR it shorted out. Tried to fix it but the triode was fried. It was poorly soldered. Wish it had worked.

I am using this to control the temperature of a 5500watt 240v submersible heating element for homebrewing. It gets pretty warm! I installed it into a old fire alarm can and I put a fan from a computer to help cool. I open the door on the can and with the fan it seems to be fine. I'm a little nervous but I keep an eye on it and I highly recommend installing a 240v GFCI because that's a lot of liquid and a lot volts!
