2000 Chev S-10 4.3L Automatic 2WD171k MilesMounted the Transmission Cooler behind the front grill but Infront of the A/C Condenser. Wired up the fan onto a push configuration. No restrictions and nothing blocking the transmission cooler.Bypassed the OEM radiator, so transmission to cooler and then back to transmission. I also have a severe duty fan clutch on my truck as well with thr full fan shroud as well so it pulls air with that fan clutch. The issue I have is the fan never turned on from the temp sensor and I even tested it before I installed it with my heatgun to make sure the sensor worked and it did. So, I proceeded to install.Fan is supposed to turn on at 150F and never did. I went for a 10.1 mile drive and my 4L60E transmission already got up to 185F, even when on the freeway. Pulled over when it hit 155F and the fan still never kicked on. So, I drove longer and it hit 185F before I called it, fan still didn't turn on. I know I wired it right. Used to be a mechanic before electrician. It's very easy to wire up and straight forward. Yellow/ Green stripe wire goes to the temp switch and then, on the other end of the temp switch leg, you need to wire to an ignition source so it doesn't drain your battery. Did it properly, took me all day because I did it right and soldered everything and also wire loomed it so it's a professional job. So, I know for a fact it's not a crimped connection that was loose. Only crimped connection I used was for the temp sensor because that had 2 switch legs.I ordered a different brand and different cooler since this will not meet my needs.Mind you, it was 50-55F outside temp and it still hit 185F when on the freeway doing 55MPH-60MPH.Transmission cooler prolly holds less then a 1/4 of a quart of fluid. Its not very thick. One thing I was looking for and it's not posted is the fan is a 30Amp fuse if anyone is wondering the power draw which is a big difference if you do the math for 12V and 90 watts so thats very misleading information. They say you can use this for towing but I wasn't towing. I just took it on a test drive to check the temps after install. I have a Autel scan tool ($1,500) reading live data for the temps the whole time. Coolant was at 188F and the transmission temp reached 185F in a 10.1 mile drive and I bypassed the radiator so coolant wouldn't effect transmission temps. Transmission cooler is also NOT touching the condenser either, its free floating away from everything getting direct air from in front of the vehicle behind the grill. If I can hit 185F in this woth outside temps being 50F-55F, I wouldn't put this up to the task of towing something and relying on this transmission cooler to do the job.
