Product Description

This is a 110 film format negative holder for use with the Nikon Coolscan scanners (US Patent Pending). Works with the following Coolscan models: LS-40, LS-50, LS-4000, LS-5000, V ED. This holder requires use of the MA-20 or MA-21 slide mount adapter. This will also work with 16 mm movie film. Model features a slide in "top" that assists in keeping film flat for scanning. This was CAD designed and manufactured for use with the obsolete 110 film format that was popular in the 1970s.

This is a new design that no longer requires modification to your MA-21 slide adapter to use properly!

Important: Our film adapters for scanners are not designed to be used with uncut filmstrips. You may need to cut your film to adapter length for proper use.

Specifications for the 110 negative holder:

Overall: 210 mm x 50 mm Scanning Window: 195 mm x 14.65 mm

Please note the Coolscan is not capable of scanning the full width of an inserted filmstrip. The user will need to scan one end of the film and then flip it around to scan the other end. This process is detailed in the online instructions

Material: Solid Plastic Features: Unlike some designs, this holder features a recessed channel to hold your negative strip firmly which can help avoid scratches or trapped dust that other holders may cause.

I could not scan 110 format negatives in my Nikon Coolscan IV film scanner with either the 35mm negative carrier or the slide carrier. I found this 110 format negative carrier on Amazon and decided to invest a little more than 20 bucks to give it a try...At first I didn't even realize that it consisted of two pieces until I looked at the on-line instructions. Then I slid my finger sideways on the carrier and found the film hold-down or "flattener". The 110 Format negatives in my collection are often curled and faded. The Coolscan can take care of the fading and the flattener helps remove some of the curl. What I'm amazed at is how well the product is made and how tight the tolerances are between the holder and the film flattener. This thing really works well.Does it allow for automatic negative advancement like the 35mm carrier? No. In fact, the only image that you can scan is the 3rd image from the back. This isn't an issue though, because you can easily slide the negative out until the first image is sitting in the third position. Have four images in your negative strip? Just flip it around in the holder and scan it in position number 3. Use your scanning software to manipulate the image to the proper view.I believe that this product provides excellent value for money and works as advertised.
