Product Description

This is a 110 film format negative holder for use with the Plustek Opticfilm film scanners (Patent Pending). This was CAD designed and manufactured for use with the obsolete 110 film format that became popular in the 1970s. This negative holder will also work with 16 mm movie films. According to Plustek and other sources, this holder should fit the following Plustek Opticfilm models: 7200, 7200i, 7200i SE, 7300, 7400, 7500i, 7500i SE, 7500i AI, 7600i SE, 7600i AI, 8100, 8200i SE, and 8200i AI.

Specifications for the 110 negative holder:

Overall: 217 x 62 mm Material: plastic Assembled thickness: 6.7 mm Features: Unlike some designs, this holder features a recessed channel to hold your negative strip firmly which can help avoid scratches or trapped dust that other holders may cause.

Important: This 110 film holder is designed specifically for the Plustek Opticfilm film scanners where the user manually advances the film for scanning. This is not designed for models that automatically advance the film strip.

film cameras

We make holders for nearly all film types

In the 21st century, digital cameras are all the rage. There is an entire generation that likely has never even heard of film cameras. But it is easy to forget that digital imaging has only become widespread in the last 20 years. That means there are over 100 years of film negatives sitting in albums, attics, and basements around the world. Negative Solutions Film Holders makes the products to bring those old memories to digital life. From 126 to 35 mm to 110 film or 127, we likely have what you need.

"This is a fantastic invention. I agitated for YEARS about scanning odd sized negatives and then along came this film holder and it worked perfectly. I was able to finish a project that meant a lot to me. Thank You!" - Negative Solutions Customer

This is a homemade 3D printed holder that does not work well. The real plustek holders have a hinge to hold the film in place so there is no chance of scratching the film. This product has a sliding device to secure the film that will scratch your negatives. The film carrier doesn't slide well inside the plustek scanner. Don't buy it.

This was obviously made on a 3D printer which is fine by me but unfortunately does not work. The main piece of plastic is very sturdy but the strip that holds the film down is very flimsy and impossible to slide in properly. Tried to make this work numerous times but eventually just gave up. It seems to be the only option for 110 since Plustek doesn't make one.Up date to my review:I figured a way to make it work. You have to slide the film in with the strip in place. Not visa versa. I don't think it's how it's supposed to work but it will do in a pinch. You have to be gentle pushing the slide into the scanner as well or the film will move. Still not totalIy happy with it but will adjust my one star rating to three.

Maybe the 110 holder is new, it’s very hard to inserting to the scanner, it’s different from the 35mm film holder easily and confident that the plustek standard equipmentBut after few time use , the 110 holder looks work better and easier slide between frame with scanner and inside the case is fixed to 110mm film stock

Doesn’t hold the negative down. Looks like it was three D printed!

This works with my Plustek Opticfilm scanner to scan 110 size film negatives. It is poorly designed, however. Although there are eight slots in the film carrier, they are not all the same size and therefore not evenly spaced. Most of the slots are 22 mm wide whereas the largest is 26.5 mm wide. As a result of this spacing, the negatives don't line up exactly with the slots so that it is sometimes necessary to adjust the film during the scanning process. There is a sliding "sleeve" which holds the negatives in place (see it above the ruler in the photo). It slides into the slot on top of the film to hold it flat and in place. As you try to slide that in over the film, it usually drags the film out of place. As a result, you often have to again adjust the film in the carrier before scanning.Since the slots are not equal and therefore not evenly distributed, the notches on the side of the film carrier don't really serve as "stops" that you can feel when advancing to the next image to scan. You have to "play it by ear" and realize that you have moved the carrier too far or not enough and then do a prescan again to be sure you have the image correctly positioned for scanning. It's an aggravating piece of equipment that almost works right. Overcoming those shortcomings by having the slots of equal size and correctly spaced for 110 film and having the notches in the carrier positioned to feel the stops would be great. There has to be a better way, but for the money and not having hundreds of rolls of 110 film to scan, I guess I would have to say reluctantly that it's workable.

The issue starts with the first time you try to use it. -=[1]=- The product is apparently created with a 3D printer. This leaves nearly every single 90 degree surface with a thin almost bladelike piece of material sticking out from it. Not sharp, just in the way. It would not slide into my Plustex Opticfilm 8300I without way more force than I was willing to push it into. You as the user MUST trim back the excess material with what ever method you are comfortable with. I used an Exacto-knife. -=[2]=- The part that sits on top of the film to hold it in place is flimsy. You must also trim away some of its excess at the ends to get it to slide into its base without force. It DOES NOT have cross sections between the pictures in the film on the top piece. Because it already is pretty flimsy this product does nothing to flatten out your film at all. -=[3]=- Despite all of this, it does work. On the plus side it has notches where they should be and allows you to move forward properly frame by frame without moving the negative. -=[4]=- For those special pictures or if your negatives are just too curly, I would recommend using the 35mm negative holder and crop out what you need. -=[5]=- Since this is currently the only thing of it's type on the market, if you can get past the poor workmanship it still the best solution at this time... it's definitely better than nothing.

It does take a little work to get the negatives to feed under the slide-over bracket. But I have not seen any scratches induced by that process. And the Plustek scanner has scratch removal, so it's been correcting all the pre-existing scratches fairly nicely. I've scanned hundreds of 110 photos from negatives using this holder and it works well enough, I'm happy I didn't have to scan these strips on a flatbed scanner.

I bought a slide scanner to scan old family slides and the brand did not have a 110 Film holder. I found this by searching and I guess this guy is 3D printing them. Just what I needed.
