I haven't gotten the opportunity to use this at work yet (I work construction) but I have opened it up and looked it over. It seems well made, safe, and heavy duty. It's very easy to use and connect.

Being in construction with a large portion of our business being siding, fall protection is something we deal with every day. We have several retractable "yo-yo" lanyards of varying sizes. This one is far less expensive than the "name brand" ones we have, but similar (or a little more expensive) to the other off-brand ones I've picked up recently, so I was unsure what to expect from a quality standpoint. After receiving the lanyard and checking it out some, I'm overall pleased. Compared to some others we have, it seems to be a comparable size-to-weight ratio, and seems to be pretty well built. I like that it has a cloth storage/carrying bag, but I bet my crews will not use the bag and/or will lose it almost immediately. At a 6ft length and with webbing (instead of metal cable), its more compact than many others we have and it's the perfect length to work in a man-lift basket. As with all yo-yo's with webbing, there's a trade-off - the polyester is more comfortable to wear and is far less likely to damage surrounding surfaces (or people) than steel cable, but they are more succeptable to abrasive wear or cutting, so you have to be very dilligent in inspecting the webbing frequently.

I have to remove a cinder block chimney this coming spring on a farmhouse roof. I am not a young chicken anymore and thus want to have a tether incase I fall. When I saw this and the reasonable price, I said this is the way to go. After receiving it I tried to yank the tether down and if you go too fast, it locks quickly. Which is what is it supposed to do. It is middle of winter now so it will be a few months before I get to put this to use but I am happy with the order.

This thing is built like a tank. I have not fallen with it yet thank goodness but even if I had, I’m sure it would do his job tremendously. I do climb on roofs a lot, and I have used this for trimming trees and what not and it really grabs and holds on and is a very key point to me even getting up there and doing it in the first place because I know I have the support there to back me up. It’s very durable and for the price you can’t beat it when you’re talking about what it could cost to get injured very well-made for sure. This is a home run.END RESULT : I recommend this too anyone that is climbing any significant height to perform any work . Use this and you’ll be fine. It’s a great product.

The large hook makes it easy to attach to anchor points. The webbing is solid and has good tension that is easy to work with while being secure. Have only ever used my hands to initiate the fall arrest mechanism (and hope that's all I ever do to activate it) and it works properly.

I haven't jumped off a bridge to text the arrest speed but the 5000+ lb caribeaner and the large mouth locking mount clip both feel really solid. It doesn't get in the way and has enough play to let you actually work. Make sure you see the safety parameters and that they match your needs. This might be too long for some roof work depending on where you mount it.
