Patience is the key. Slower is faster 😂🤯Took me a while to get used to the drilling at lower settings. (I am used to polishing and woodworking at the higher settings.) I learned … Lower rotation gets the job done faster. Took two minutes, at half the speed at the lowest setting of the drill, three minutes for full speed at the lowest setting; and ferrrrrever on my press. While the diamond grit will help you drill a hole in ceramics and sale, it is definitely not as fast as the video implies.Kit comes with a sweet tool box, one threaded connector rod, and the three drill bits and three hole saws. The tool box is sweet. The labels on the bits and sponge is necessary for the three bits, as they are the same diameter shaft, and the holes for the tools are indistinguishable. You can tell which hole saws goes where, easily. My kid found an evergreen sapling and wanted to make it into a bonsai. So of course I said yes. So I needed … (a dress for the cute shoes? Why yes, that’s how I do all my shopping) … a shallow pot. I had a cute bowl, but no drainage hole… so tada! Perfect test project! My first 20 minutes was on the drill press. nope. My technique or idea sucked (definitely user error). The thought crossed my mind … maybe it’s the equipment. But I didn’t give up. I took out my drill and set her up. The first 45 degree cut was tricky. Once I got a groove, I started tilting it perpendicular and went to town drilling my hole. The drill did the same thing as my press, and kinda smoked and ground… but didn’t get any depth. I almost gave up. Then… I got smrt and GTS. “How long to drill through ceramic…”Five to ten minutes… okay… Low speed?!!! Nahh…. Really? 🤨So I cranked my drill down. And three minutes. It took 3 minutes to get through 3/16” (5mm) ish thick ceramic, 0.4” (1cm) ish thick slate paver. That was me pulling the trigger full throttle at the lowest setting. So while I had my stopwatch going… why not? I went half throttle… 2 min on the same materials. Not bad! I even got multiple holes - so it’s not a one and done either.I now have a bonsai pot with (not quite proper) drainage for my evergreen sapling experiment.
