I have a large 2-panel wrought iron gate across my front driveway. I can open and close it with key fobs, but also needed a way for delivery people to punch in a code on an RF pad so got this. I have a 4 x 4 posts mailbox stand right outside the gate. I screwed this foot-long metal mounting post to that stand, and then attach the keypad and weather hood to the top. This way, a trucker can reach the pad from his window. The post comes with mounting hardware, but I used my own wood screws.It’s a strong post and is working well.

This keypad extension is very convenient especially when it's raining 🌧. I mounted this extension piece on a 4x6 post and my wife loves 💘 it because she hates to get out of her car to open the gate. Our front gate has remotes but our side gate has a keypad so this extension is a must have. I also like to have all the same products from the same company that our gate opener is which is from GateNear. 5 stars.

thsi is a well made product. though i will use it as a shower holder not the intended but it works great. easy to install and came with all the hardware. execellent product. i highly recommend it.

So it will function, but the welds won't keep water out of the joints, so it is going to rust and fail eventually. If they had added top welds, or even some sealant above their joints, then it wouldn't get water in it, but as it stands, water will easily go down into the joints and this will rust apart (eventually).Besides that it looks to be a decent mount for keypads and gate controllers. I will probably add a bead of caulk onto the back to help extend its life.
