This traditionally styled German quartz cuckoo clock accurately keeps time and plays one of twelve melodies at the top of each hour. The hand-carved case features five leaves and a bird. Two decorative pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by two chains. On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour. (Example: At one o'clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o'clock the bird will cuckoo eight times). After the cuckoo bird cuckoos one of 12 different melodies will play. 1. Happy Wanderer, 2. Edelweiss, 3. Dr. Zhivago, 4. Swan Lake, 5. He was beautiful (theme song of the movie "Deer Hunter"), 6. Lorelei, 7. Home sweet Home, 8. Sound of Silence, 9. Clementine, 10. The Entertainer (theme song of the movie "Sting), 11. Love theme of the movie "The Godfather", 12. Fur Elise. This cuckoo clock has music on/off switch, an off switch (for cuckoo & music) and a light sensor that silences the clock when it is dark. Requires three C size batteries to operate (not included). Great effort has been made to portray each cuckoo clock as accurately as possible. As with many handmade items, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from clock to clock. We consider this to be a special part of their character. This clock is covered by a two year limited warranty covering workmanship and manufacturers defects.

Great clock BUT CAN NOT get the coo-coo to match the time. PLus it does 24 hour coo-coo so at 3pm it coo-coo's 15 times (or is supposed to). I wrote the company River City Clocks for help but got no response. Good product but bad company selling them. Don't expect support for this product.

Simply adorable! I got a little disappointed with the size, hence my 4 star rating as it is extremely small, but it works nicely and it is very cute.

I just bought the clock for my mother and she loves it.One of the reviews above says the cuckoo bird cuckoos twice per hour which is slightly misleading. The cuckoo bird cuckoos once per hour (ex: 1 for 1:00, 12 for 12:00) but it has neat forest ambience sounds in the background when it goes off (other birds chirping maybe wind in the leaves or water too) and a light distant echo of each cuckoo so that's probably what they're talking about.Looks just like another authentic German cuckoo I have gotten for my mother but that one was mechanical, this is one is great because it looks mechanical but it runs on batteries so you don't have to mess with it every day.

I didn't realize that I paid that much for it, but so far it's been more than worth it.I just got a compliment on it last week when they heard it in the backgroundwhile I was taking on the phone. I put batteries in it 6 months ago and it keeps perfect time.It cuckoos, plays a little ditty and sounds realistic. I remember when I first hung it up,which is another plus because it was easy even with plaster walls,I would listen for it to cuckoo on the hour, but after a while you won't notice it as much, and then when it does go off, it's really cool. I'm glad I bought it.
