This kit is great as far as the actual insect specimens. One of my photos shows all the specimens, still wrapped in plastic. Looking at the insects gives me a creepy feeling, but I’m hoping my grandson will enjoy them. The box includes twelve specimens and a magnifying glass. One reason that I lowered the rating by one star is because the magnifying glass could be better, especially if this is advertised for use in a classroom. The biggest reason for the lack of one star is that there is NO description of what type of specimens are included. It is in the listing, but of course if giving this for a gift or storing in a classroom, the listing won't be with the item. There is plenty of white space on the box, I don't know why they didn't attach a label there or include a single piece of paper with the listings on one side with a picture.

These are quite a bit of fun - you get a variety of insects/arachnids/and a crab in resin and a small magnifying glass. to look at them with. They're generally fairly interesting and in good positions for viewing - my children have so far been delighted to explore. The one complaint is that some of the resin pours are of lower quality - there are obvious bubbles/striations near some of the insects. If you have children who are at all interested in insects this would be a great gift for them.

This is a good selection of bugs and decently presented for observation. The bee is creepy as well as one of the spiders.I almost docked a star as the plastic is not perfect with a ding here or there on the edge but doent hinder the function. It is kind of hard to see some details well on some specimens as they are dark, but not sure you can fix that in an acrylic block, but the cheap glass with this set really doesn't do a good job for close ups. It's a kids piece and has rubber on it for rough handling. It's great for my young boys but for an adult you will want to buy a nicer one. Lastly I didn't receive a specimen chart, so I don't know what the actual names for each bug is. It would be nice to be able to Google them and provide some more facts or images that I can further explore and enlighten my little scientists. Overall a great product for young boys or an adult looking for a neat collection

I love bugs. All bugs. My current kick is the massive and beautiful Joro spider (so much so I lead an organization celebrating them). Butterflies, beetles, and so on. All fascinating. That's why I wanted this.It offers a close up look at these samples. However, it isn't as perfect as it could be. For starters, although these are advertised as insects, not all are. You'll see a spider and a scorpion (booth are arachnids), for example. The quality also is weak. It should be easy to acquire specimen samples which are in great shape, without blemishes. The resin block itself is thick enough. These will do well in a drawer on a shelf without concern. The specimen sample will stay as-is for a long time. Keep it out of bright sunlight.Anthony Trendl

For my children, this was a really nice surprise. They love to catch insects and look at them, and they will spend a lot of time looking at these. There are twelve different creatures to look at and study. I have to subtract a star though, because at this price point (29 when I ordered it), the set has some issues. First, some of the insects are really dark, and the colors are not as vibrant as they are in the product photos (this is a minor complaint). Second, a guide, even just one page with the names of the insects, would be really nice. I'm shocked it didn't come with any information. Third, there are a lot of little bubbles and flaws in the resin, although it is crystal clear so they don't trouble me too much. Finally, although the magnifying glass has a cushioned handle and some weight to it, it's terrible. It just does not have much magnification. One of the most interesting things to do with these insects would be to look at all the tiny details with a good magnifying glass. You will have to buy one, because the one included in this set is not it. Even though I wish it had come with some information about these bugs, and with a decent magnifying glass, I do still think it's a very cool gift for someone that is interested in insects.

The TINGLAN Insect Specimens are really better than I thought they would be. The resin cubes that hold the insects are all individually wrapped and very nice quality. They are very clear, and I see no defects in any of the ones I got. These are going to be a great addition to my classroom and the kids are sure to love them. The set comes nicely boxed and even comes with a magnifying glass. The only thing that would make this set better is an identification sheet to identify the insects, but I guess that could be the project to have the kids research and identify them. All in all, it is a very nice set.

I ordered this 12 Pcs Insect Resin Specimen collection for my grandson.A few weeks ago, my grandson found a beetle encased in resin that I had left over from my days teaching middle school science. He was obsessed with it. So I decided to order him this collection. The insects are well encased in the resin, with no air bubbles or other defects. The insects are placed so that you can see all parts of them. They appeared to be in very good condition when they were encased in the resin. There is a nice variety of speciments, including a scorpion and a butterfly. The magnifying glass that is included with the kit is not of particularly good quality, but it serves its purpose, especially if it is going to be used by a child. If you have a bug-loving kiddo, this will make a great gift.

These are going to be great for homeschool science class, but my eight-year-old nature lover is just really happy to have them. They're now on his nature shelf, and he loves looking at them and showing them to friends. Only complaint is that there could be more diversity in the selection. But the quality seems good. The resin is clear and the specimens are well preserved.
