I've used low-end consumer picks with good results, but this scaler seems much closer to professional quality.Curvature of the blades on each end are asymmetric and mirror each other in order to follow contour of teeth on left/right sides. Scalers come in a wide range of standard shapes, but this this one seems to have wide application. It takes some practice to find what works best and the blades are VERY SHARP. You can easily slice through gums or might pry off fragile veneers, so I'm not ready to recommend use by non-professionals. After COVID, I'll be happy to have this done at the Dentist office. Meanwhile, I'm glad to have a quality scaler (and some practice using it successfully).

Good value for money, it wasn’t very sharp but it could be fixed with a sharpening stone. Like someone in the reviews mentioned before, the shank does run on the bulkier side, but is overall a good buy.

This is a great product and brand; on par with Hu-Friedy brand in our experience, at a better price. You can feel the quality and craftsmanship when you hold this instrument. The non-slip grip design is also superb. I bought one more than 6 months ago, with few other brands to compare, and it did not degrade or rust, so I just purchased several more for our practice.
