I recently dragged out my Meade ETX-125 that's been in storage for years. We all know the stock GoTo fork mounts are practically useless, especially now that the ETX series is getting long in the tooth. A friend made a bracket to attach the deforked ETX 125 OTA to my DiscMounts 4 mount.The scope has pretty good optics but, like most of the ETX series suffers from excessive mirror shift when focusing. There are several elaborate approaches people have taken, but there's a simpler solution. I ordered this 1-1/4" helical focusing device. Slide one end into the ETX drawtube and insert an 1-1/4" eyepiece into the other end. You can rough focus using the Meade focuser, and then fine focus with the device. I think the build quality is pretty good (machined well), and the focuser operates smoothly. Good value for the money.

I ordered 2 focusers, both seem to be missing an internal washer or o-ring to allow full and proper travel of the focusing mechanism. Must have this internal stop or focuser will not fully function. I decided to keep mine and implement a fix. Be warned about this defect.

wow, it has performed very well. It does a fine job of adjusting in and out. I am using it instead of a two speed-crayford focuser for a small refractor. Instead of buying a two speed crayford focuser, I bought this helical focuser and put it as an extension to the scope and does the job perfectly as a two-speed-crayford focuser!! nice!
