Overall a good build:- metal material felt like good metal, strong enough for the intended job and some unintended dropping- had all attachments, sizes, and accessories I believe I’d need for this part of engine maintenance- carry/storage case is always helpful for these sorts of tools with multiple pieces, compact and thin as well - doesn’t take up a ton of space- great value, enough that it’s worth it to keep around if you do valves even every now and then on your small engines.- fit as expected into two engines now, functions as expected

I am new to rebuilding small engines and didn’t really plan to start collecting a bunch of specialized tools, but the price of this valve spring compressor was surprisingly affordable. I couldn’t pass it up as I think it is a tool that is pretty hard to replicate or make do without. The components are durable, but the threads were a little rough. I had to work at twisting the threads in and out of the tool a few times to get to where they now thread in smoothly. Other than that minor issue I gave had no problems with these spring compressors. They work great and made it easy to get to the clips to remove the valve springs. The case is also great. I will likely only use this tool on an infrequent basis so the likelihood of me being able to keep track of all the parts without a case is virtually nonexistent. The case will make it easy to have all the parts when I’m ready to use the tool again.

Not bad to get a set that can do most the small engines I have on hand. The cages work fine but they're a little crude with ragged cuts and there's no paint over whatever they hung them on for painting. My 30mm was the worst with jagged metal hanging into the cage from when one of the verticle bars was cut. Makers just painted right over it. That's gotta get ground down.. the cages pop on and off the pushers easy feel loose/wobbly but they stay on. Threads run through but add some grease.

I've typically used the spring loaded c-clamp type in the past, but this kit is more secure and come with valve lapping tools. It's definitely better than a typical over head spring type, unless your keeping the head on the block.

I ordered this mostly for the two valve lapping tools, but who can resist a whole kit with a case? I'm really pretty happy with it! The case is nothing fancy, but it's sturdy and well organized and lets me make the most of my shelf space. Any time I can store tools upright and save my horizontal surface space I'm all about that! If I had one gripe it would be the minor detail of there being no instructions included. In this day and age with online searching and videos readily available I can't imagine that will horribly inconvenience anyone, but I did notice it and thought it worth a mention. I'll get a lot of use out of this for a long time.

I’ve been killing myself for years fighting to take out valve springs using screwdrivers, pry bars, vice grips etc. When I saw this valve spring compressor tool, I figured I would finally bite the bullet and get it to put an end to my ongoing struggles. Well, it was partially a good thing if you have “overhead valves”. It didn’t do much for my flat head 6 engine. Be aware of that. However, I do work on engines with overhead valves now and then, so this should help out there. As far as the quality goes, I was not that impressed. The tooling is rough. The “precision threads” stuck and had to be worked out before using. Also, one of the ball locks on an extension rod is jammed in (see pic) and will not come up to do its job. There are no instructions included in the package. You have to go on-line to get the details. However, in step 2 on-line it says to “Pick a correct adapter and thread it onto the screw.” The adapters in this package are not tapped and therefore cannot be threaded onto the screw. But, I am assuming that the ball locks on the screws are a go around for this, providing they are working correctly. The two valve lappers included are a nice touch and should work out well where and when needed.Overall, it will do the job but the USA quality is not there. But for the price, it’s not too bad. I’m giving it 4 stars.

It worked exactly like it was designed to. Plus capable of multiple valve sizes

Worked like a charm. Perfect for removing and installing valves on a cylinder head that is removed from the block. However, the C body will bend out if it is torqued too much, like I did. I only noticed the distortion when I put it back I the case and it didn't fit its slot in the case.

This is a great kit with many different size spring compressors. Love the case that keeps it organzied. Along with the kit are two lap sticks which seem to be made of hickory wood.Great kit that is going to be very handy for engine repairs.
