This is a very solidly built power supply that is fully potted, so heat management long term should be pretty good. It has about 1 second ramp up to full brightness, and 1 second ramp down to complete off, if you just want to switch power to the supply with a toggle switch. So it's not full on instantly, which can be startling. The power supply also has a control wire which can be controlled via PWM, by just pulling it to ground with some micro-controller the brightness can be controlled from 0% to 100%. Voltage output is spot on, just slightly above 24V, so with wiring voltage loss you will be exactly at 24V at the lights.

Working great as the low voltage source for lighting fixtures we added to our winter-house front garden.Installed at a protected location, of course. The low voltage wiring can be run out into the weather, but this product needs a dry place to live.

I am used to power supplies in the 60 watt range to be the size of a footlong hotdog at Sonic! To see such a versatile pLED Driver at 100 watts in a such a small package surprised me.As usual, I wired in a load of 80% of rated capacity. As a rule of thumb, you should only load a power supply to 80% of its rating if you plan on it living for a long time. The so-called overrating in most cases, is meant to cover instantaneous startup loads. For example, you might be able to walk or run fast, but most people can only do it in short bursts. If you were required to sustain that speed indefinitely, you would give out. Years of experience with the “80% rule” has served me well.Anyhow, I hooked up my 80% load and walked away. It was not my intention to do so, but I did not get back to my experiment until next evening. I have nothing spectacular to report, it was working just fine. No massive overheating, no smoke, no house burned to ground. This has a an IP67 rating, meaning that it can be used outdoors without shelter. I’m a bit hesitant to wire any 120V item in the open, so this will be housed under our deck. For those of you that do not understand “0-10V” and “1-10V” dimming, PLEASE do NOT downrate a product because you couldn’t figure it out BEFORE you purchased it. Not understanding your spouse might cause an argument, but not understanding an electrical product can have far worse results. If you don’t understand something, Google it. If it still eludes you, get someone else to install the unit. Every little letter in a description of an electrical device can have great importance. (I wish I could Google my family members and save a lot of grief!)The 0-10v dimmer that I purchased from Amazon worked flawlessly with this power supply on the accent lights I have. The threshold is reliable at lower levels than an inline LED dimmer is. Threshold, in my case, means the lowest light level that can be retained after the power has been removed. Most people are familiar with setting a dimmer very low for a mood, but have to start the light at a higher level, then bring it back down, each time the lights need to be so low. Since these lights will be on timer, the ability to come back on at the same very low level is important.I gave this 5 stars. I am pleased it will run my lights without a sweat and love the dimming capabilities.

This seems like a well-designed UL listed power supply from both mechanical and electrical stand points.Solid heavy gauge box, all wire connections are conveniently shown on the box cover label, and a brief but explicit one-sheet installation instructions is included using clear and plain language.Testing didn't disappoint either: Excellent line and load side voltage and current regulation holding very accurately within spec. even after increasing the current 15% over spec to check the design margin. I also tested the dimming function using an auxiliary power supply to feed the dimming terminals, and it did a great job regulating during this feature testing as well.I have not performed a long-term burn-in test at maximum specified power but the power supply was barely warm after about 15 minutes of testing. You rarely get to see a well-designed product that respects its published specs nowadays, so I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. However, exactly for that reason, I was even more surprised to find a small manufacturing defect that I didn't expect from an otherwise perfect product, and that was when I opened up the main enclosure compartment that hosts the actual power supply. All the circuits are potted to protect them from outdoor elements, but there was a flaw in the potting job (that definitely messed the IP67 rating on my unit, as seen in one of my photos) which would have unfortunately exposed some of the internal circuits or components to potentially significant risks if installed outside. I will have to hold off on the installation until I find some electrical rated RTV to try and fill the hole before I do anything with this power supply. As I said, I wouldn't be surprised about this much if the whole thing was a disappointment, but since I found this to be a very good product, it saddening to see that someone in manufacturing didn't pay attention to their small contribution and tarnished the great job everybody else did.Anyway, I have to take one star away for my rating, and I am hoping that this may be an isolated case and I'm glad I found it so I can fix the issue and avoid later trouble, but just in case, please check yours before installation.
