For me, this thing works great. I want to see if there is any difference in my electric bill by using just this in the one room I need it to be cold when I go to sleep. So far, its pretty impressive, its cooling down a room twice the maximum recommended size and doing it very well. The only downside to it, is that its a little loud, like, about twice the loudness of a white noise machine, but I usually turn it off before sleep because the room is cooled down enough by then, you just have to time it right. The remote is very nice and convenient. It also came with a cosmetic crack at the back of the machine, it's not that much of a big deal, but it does feel slightly flimsy, they should have probably doubled up on the amount of plastic used for the removable and air plastic mesh covers on the back. It's portable to a certain degree, it has to be within about 4-5 feet of the window you are going to direct the air intake from. The window set up was straight forward, but you will need either a jigsaw or a coping saw to cut out the second part of the provided window panel, they left it like that so you can size it to your particular window. It's a fairly straight forward job, just put it in the window, make sure the sides are fully extended, traces the hole on the front panel onto the back panel and cut it out.Once again, I wish amazon has the 1/2 star ability, because it ius a 4.5/5 for me, but its closer to 5 than 4, so it gets a 5 from me.

This is a wonderful portable air conditioning unit! We have been researching the cost of adding the necessary ductwork and other components to bring air conditioning into our garage. The costs of materials and labor were discouraging, and we had given up on the project. Our HOA rules do not permit the installation of typical window-style air conditioning units, so we were surprised when they approved this unit. The only caveat was that it had to be vented at the back of the house. We do not have a window at the back of the garage, but we do have a service door that is not used. We are installing a door with a double-hung window that will accommodate the portable air conditioning unit. The only other expense we have is the installation of a dedicated plug by the door. The unit is attractive and easy to maintain. I look forward to the completion of the installation. We have our gym equipment and a workshop area in the garage. This unit is powerful enough to cool the entire garage, which measures approximately 400 square feet. The noise level is low. This is a quiet unit. This unit offers enhanced functionality compared to traditional window units. Although we have only run the unit in test mode to ensure it functions properly, I am confident that it will resolve our cooling problem once it is fully installed. The price is fair and is commensurate with similar products offering similar features.
