I expected this book binding kit to be larget all around based on the images and the other bookbinding supplies I own.I'd call this binding kit a "travel" or "mini" kit -- that isn't to say that it's only usable for small books (well if you don't have a binding press, then yeah, the binder clips will only work for small sized book(let)s. That bneing said, the small spools (see included picture) seem to be GOOD waxed thread and the other items are totally workable/usable -- the awl, I find, is a bit small, but I have large hands and more likely, just used to larger sized tools. It's a good assortment of stuff, though I'd like to have seen it have some of the bookbinding fabric tape for spine work and joining booklets and some muslin and a little archival glue, but if you want to make Japanese bindings or just sew booklets (like for insertion into a travel journal, this set is all you'd need aside from paper. But with the money you save on this inexpensive kit, you can get yourself those things. The bone folders are great. The scissors, meh... they cut, nothing special about them though, they seem like the inexpensive scissors you can buy at dollar stores in a multi pack. The curved sewing needles and large sized needles, waxed thread, awl and bone folders are what makes this mini binding kit worth it. There is a thimble ring, for a child or very small fingers. There's no way it's fitting on my fingertip.

Great value for what you get in this standard book binding kit. I love that it includes curved needles since I can never get enough of those for coptic stitching. All of the pieces included are useful and nice to have around. I love that the ruler is tiny as most of my rulers are more standard sized, and it's nice to have something more compact. My only complaint is that the thread included is the heavily waxed thread that is typically used for leather work. I find that kind of thread to be a bit difficult to work with for book binding, leaving extra wax on my book and eventually stretching out and loosening over time. But, it's still useable for some types of stitching, so I'm not going to complain too much since this kit is such a great value.

This set is so amazing for junk journaling - you get everything you need to bind your journals: little scissors, bone folders, binder clips, assortment of needles with nice big eyes, waxed thread assortment, needle threader, awl, ruler...I used this set to create a little notebook and it was great! The awl has a tiny defect (where the handle meets the needle), which was hard to capture in a picture, but this didn’t effect it’s use as the awl was nice and sharp and poked through the pages so easily!! I loved the wax thread too and prefer it over embroidery floss, which is what I normally use for binding. I highly recommend this set and also think it would be a great gift for someone who loves junk journaling.

I'm a true beginner/novice to bookbinding and so I thought this kit would be a good start. There seems to be everything I need, I suppose, to start. There are no instructions so I'll need to continue my online learning to understand what I need to do. I didn't really expect instructions, but I thought I'd get a sheet saying what's included and what the items are intended to do. This all came in a smaller box than I expected -- not a complaint just letting you know. I was looking for one thing that I thought would be included and wasn't -- book tape (I think it's called) - and the reason I was looking for it is due to on the sales page there's a photo of it showing someone cutting it with scissors and it says "easy to cut this tape to exactly the size and shape you need." To me this meant some book tape was included. I suppose it was just showing how the scissors that are included could be used. I looked at the sales page after receiving the package and there's no mention of book tape being included. The photo and its wording was misleading for me. This is by no means a set for someone who is an experienced book binder, but is good for someone like me who is a complete novice.

I haven’t used this just yet as I am getting more supplies but so far it seems like a good kit! I’d my thoughts change on it I’ll update my review in the future.

This set is a good value for a lot of the materials that are necessary for binding and repairing books. The items here are all quality essentials and good to have extras in hand for a book binding project. The box is compact and stores easily in my studio as well!

Great for small projects, nice variety of sewing threads and needles.Nice to have the tools you need to finish the job.A basic instruction/how to use guide would have been nice, but Google is your friend :)Worth the price ($11.99 at the time of ordering).

Smaller set than expected and the awl is crooked. The quality of the awl is low. The scissors also seemed to be inexpensively made. The thread is rough but acccep8for binding. There are nice needles that are both straight and curved. This set is advertised for amateurs too. Definitely not for novices because there are no instructions or guidance in how to use the tools and material to book bind.
