The company did a great job packaging the foam. First they wrapped the group of 15 foam boards in cellophane across the middle to hold them even. Then the entire stack was enclosed in a then cellophane bag and taped shut to the form of the pile. Then the stack was wrapped in corrugated cardboard and taped in place. After that the pile was placed in a heavier opaque plastic bag and taped shut. Finally the pile of foam boards were placed inside of a cardboard box with a little additional paper packing. Yet after all that I was disappointed to see that the top foam board was full of indentions and little flaws. Somehow pressure was put directly on this top board making it anything but smooth. My intention for purchasing this foam board was to use it for backing for mono prints that would be framed and sold. My past experience with foam board was foam that was thicker than this foam (which is about 2mm thick) with paper backing on each side. This foam does not have any backing which makes the foam more vulnerable to denting. This may be my fault because I just assumed that there would be paper backing based on past experience but the Amazon description does not say there is any backing on the foam. This is why my headline features this information. I will not be able to use the top two out of the 15 boards because of the deep dents but the other ones will probably work so long as I go the additional step and add my own backing. Actually, there are only 5 out of the 15 that are blemish free and have no dents of any kind in any of the edges. It appears to me that the only way these could have possibly come indented is if more additional packing had been put in the box by whoever did the shipping because the company did a good job attempting to protect the foam. Thus, it is very obvious that this foam is incredibly fragile to arrive in this state given all of the protections put in place to protect it. So In the future, I will only purchase foam for backing paintings on watercolor paper if I actually see in the description that the foam has paper backing on both sides otherwise most of it it will be unusable for my purposes.

Good foam board. Perfectly fine for what it is: black 8'x10" foam board that is only 1/8 inch thick. It is more bendable than 1/4" thick, almost flexible, but still great for backing pictures or adding to shipping envelopes for stablility.I was surprised to find one side of the board perfectly new and smooth. The other side had small dents and knicks in it, as though it had been used to protect something already. On some there are two parallel line indentations. On four of them one corner has been smoothly arched off.Still. The foam board is very useable and one side completely new. These are black through-and-through. We'll use them for shipping purposes so the imperfections will not be a problem for us.
