My nipper is 10 inches. It had no leverage and made hoof trimming difficult. The first time I used this new nipper, it made trimming easy. It cuts clean and appears well made. Only time will tell how it holds up, but so far I love it. Most 15 inch nippers of any quality cost up to an even more than $150. Very pleased with this purchase.

This is my second Equine Care product and i continue to be impressed. I had recently received the hook knife and it was great. The nippers are heavy duty, top qualify and work great!! They are 15" long giving you the leverage you need to cut those really hard hoofs. I use mine on goats but these can be used on sheep, horses etc. They came in a velcro sealed case and heavy duty bag so that you can oil them when you put them up and they will last a lifetime. Not only do I highly recommend these nippers but I will also be looking to see what else Equine Care has that i might need.

These wouldn't pass as part of a professional's kit, but if you just need to do some light trimming every now and then this will work fine.The material seems good, doesn't flex too much on a cut and the edge is sharp and doesn't show much damage after one use. You can tell it isn't a premium pair of nippers, but it is perfectly functional. It came well oiled.The pouch it came with is actually quite handy for storage, it's a durable tool pouch that should last as long as the tool does.Overall I'd say this is a good value for a tool to keep just in case. You should have a professional do any complex farrier work on your horse that you don't feel comfortable doing. Make sure you're educated so you don't hurt your animals.

I’ve purchased quite a few of these while trying to save money. This is one of those products that you need to do your research on, and invest a little bit. Purchasing poor quality nippers is simply pointless, and a waste of money. On a scale of 1 to 10 these are higher up there, closer to an eight. I find them very easy to use for an amateur who is looking to just clean up the snaggle feet between Farrier trims. These are a good product.

I work at a ranch where we have over 50 horses of our own and customers horses on top of that. So you can imagine we don't want to have to come up with the money to pay a farrier to trim all of those horses or we would be completely broke. So, we've been doing it ourselves for quite some time. I haven't had the best of luck when buying nippers in the past. They're either too cheaply made and don't last through more than a couple trims or they're so big and bulky that they're really not easy to use. I am finding that these ones are some of the better nippers that we've gotten. They were a tad stiff at first but we worked that around and now that they've loosened up they're great. We did have to sharpen them as well, but overall these things are very well built. I feel like they're going to last us for some time and not just break and fall apart after a few trims. So overall, i am pleased with these nippers. I also like that they come with their own cloth case and plastic covers. They feel good on your hands and you can use them without having to stretch too far or squeeze like crazy. They do exactly what they're supposed to. You wouldn't think that that was a difficult thing to find, but it is but these fit the bill. Yay.

I like they are sturdy, but the edge of the blades is two sided making the cut more rough and not as easy. Worth their price for a back up pair of nippers but definitely not for the professional.

I have miniature donkeys, and getting a decent set of hoof nippers than I can actually handle has been an astonishingly difficult task. These seem to fit the bill, finally. They feel hefty and sturdy enough to do the job, and I can get a grip on them without having to use both hands. As others mentioned, we, too, had to sharpen them, but they seem OK after a trim, and given that we don’t trim all that often and only have two donkeys, these should be all we need for quite a while.
