At first, I thought it was a fluke as it only turns on intemittently. I rechecked my install and traced all wires. Found out The magnet wasn’t snugged tight. After the recheck, everything is working as they should. Works great!

Product magnetic ground is weak and poorly designed to fit over a nub on the Tesla Model Y frunk inner lock. This gives at best a poor temporary connection allowing for the circuitry to overheat and die. Not worth the effort or potential damage to a well designed vehicle.

The first pair of lights I got, the box was opened and when I installed the lights, they were extremely dim and barely lit up the Tesla frunk. So I ordered a replacement and I will admit they sent me a new, closed box right away. However I installed that and the lights are still extremely dim. I know it says to buy a magnet to hold in place, but even that doesn’t power the lights to full brightness. Did I just get unlucky with this or are they not bright at all?

First issue is the pass-through connector is completely different. My car has a three pin connector and this is a smaller four pin connector so it is not plug and play. Luckily I'm handy with electronics so I can easily strip the wire and tap into the 12 V light that already exist in the front trunk, its just not part of the appeal if this product. I can buy a light strip from anywhere and "Hack it" into the car the whole purpose of buying this was for it to be plug and play. I feel like there should be some double stick tape on the strips. I don't see how to shove it in between the weatherstripping it's just not going to stay. Seems pretty bright when I plugged it up to test just wish it was easier to install.

During the install, I was thinking this item would get a 3-Star review. The end result, were it not for the inadequate grounding options, would be 5-Star.Here's what happened. Accessing the Tesla wiring is simple. Use the plastic tool carefully. You may even be able to just use fingers. Be careful while removing the factory connecter from the LED/Pushbutton's rear. Don't force the connectors back together, pay attention to the keying and alignment of the pins - those are some small pins that I imagine would be easy to bend if forced.I ran the light-strip around under the weather stripping and even started over at the top right corner because I was not happy with the first run. It was a little more exposed due to being pulled a little tight. Regardless, I brought it back around and snipped off about 1.75". It tucked in neatly. I know the initial install took Now for the grounding problem. The terminal provided just barely fit over the pin that is part of the hood latch assembly. Regardless of how I attempted to attach it, the electrical connection was 50/50 and the light strip would fail to illuminate. So I searched for a new ground. Below the latch are three promising captive nuts. They are not chassis ground. Don't waste time. To either side are the ends of small bolts coming through from the front. Not enough threads to get a nut to start and very difficult to get to. That last option I found was undesirable, but aside from running a long wire from somewhere else, was my only option. I used one of the mounting bolts for the latch. Be very careful not to move the latch when loosening a bolt. There are some alignment marks that will assist in making note where it rests. If the latch is moved, it may fail to latch properly or possibly make the hood uneven.I snipped off the round terminal and used a forked one. Nice & tight - good ground. I am concerned about the heat-shrinked inline circuit board. It gets hot. Keeping an eye on that.I'm providing a "before" shot, pic of the manufacturer's suggested grounding, my alternate ground, the circuit board, and the "after" shots. It's worth noting that the before shot was with the lights out, garage door down, hood lowered. The after shots lights on (door still down). You would not see the factory frunk light if the lights were on and the hood not lowered.

Easy installation in the frunk if you take your time and follow the instructions. This is a great aftermarket product to fill the frunk with light. Interesting note is that the frunk light will stay on for 10 minutes regardless if open or closed. You won’t see it however when closed.
