This is exactly what I was looking for to power some of my audio amplifiers. It’s just a big, old-school center-tapped 17-0-17 transformer. That’s it. Note the size and weight, which is appropriately big and heavy for a 50VA transformer of this type (it is not toroidal – which would be smaller for the same power). I measured about 20.8 VAC on each side of the center tap, and 41.7 VAC end-to-end across the full secondary. This should nicely load down to 17-0-17, or a total of 34 VAC.I opened it up to take a look. I didn’t see any additional circuitry to substantiate the various protections listed (overload, over voltage, over current, etc.) unless there is just a basic thermal fuse in the transformer itself (many transformers have this – but I can’t verify this one does). However, if you blow that internal fuse, there is no replacing it – you need to get a new transformer. Overall, 5 stars.

At 17V and 1.5A this provides a solid 25.5 watts of power. This is great for my small six channel mixing board. It's been very reliable and I haven't had any issues carting around my little portable mixer, this powers it up fantastically.
