I was hoping to cut the shaft and then use these to join some thin sheet metal parts. To install the rivets I'm using an anvil and ball-peen hammer. The rivet metal is harder than I was expecting, and it takes a lot of hammering to form the head. Perhaps they are intended to be installed hot? I tried installing them cold. Maybe I worked hardened the shaft when shortening it. But on the plus side, they are stainless steel tough and you get a lot of them in the package. They won't work for my thin sheet metal work, but I'll keep them and use on some other project.
