The Heltec/Meshtastic LoRa boards come with an antenna that resembles 16d nail, with a loosely coiled 2-gauge wire down the side, then rubber-coated —similar to what's shown in picture 3. From the photos, I assumed the antenna was to be enclosed within the protective rubber clearly shown in pictures #1–3. However, that’s not the case. The material in those images is not provided—it doesn’t come with the board or with this case, despite being prominently displayed in the first three pictures. The actual Heltec antenna doesn’t mount to the case at all—that rubber-dipped-nail just hangs loose. You're apparently expected to purchase a separate antenna, which feels misleading. The provided one just doesn't fit this case. Also, the pricing of these cases is hard to justify. With 3D printers so common, it's easier than ever to recognize what a simple plastic shell—barely larger than a closed fist—should cost, and $6 is definitely pushing it.

I was genuinely impressed with the overall build quality of this case, especially considering its price range. The construction is solid, and the inclusion of an acrylic window piece allows for easy visibility of the module inside. The pieces snap together seamlessly, ensuring a secure fit that gives you confidence in its durability. However, I did run into a significant issue: despite the description claiming compatibility with a 1100mAh battery, my MakerFocus 1100mAh battery, which is quite common for the Heltec V3, simply does not fit as advertised. This mismatch was quite disappointing, as I had specifically chosen this case to meet my battery requirements. If you're planning to use this case with a similar battery, you might want to verify compatibility to avoid any frustration.Overall, while the case is well-made and functional in terms of design, the fitment issue makes it hard for me to fully recommend it. If you’re planning to use a larger battery, be cautious and consider checking for compatibility first.

These cases are good enough to securely house the board and battery. The battery size is important as the biggest battery that these cases will hold is 1100 mAh. I know this because I already have two of these same cases and I already used one and I carry that one almost daily. So after I complete my second build which will be a home node I'll still have these two cases for future builds. The board and the battery fit inside the case perfectly and even without using the included tape the battery doesn't move around inside the case. The case has a cutout where a lanyard or a wrist strap can be attached. I may add a simple paracord wrist strap to the one that I take out of the house eventually. The cases are smooth with no rough edges and they are worth the cost especially if someone doesn't have access to a 3D printer like I don't.In conclusion, these are very good cases and are good starter cases or if not planning on upgrading the battery good all-around cases. I hope eventually that the company makes the same cases but only bigger to hold a 3000 mAh battery as the chip on the board is a battery drainer.

These are good quality cases for a very small Meshtastic node. I got the cases to review, and luckily I had one of the boards already. Had to order the batteries separately (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F1FJ238M) but it wasn't too bad.I would generally order the pre-grouped kits, as they're a fair value and you don't have to hunt down mismatched parts, but if you already had the boards, this option is great.

I'm using a Heltec lora card at 900 mhz. The card fits in the case, but it's not a great fit.The antenna cable needs to be manipulated for the antenna (if you use a short ducky antenna) and this takes up room for the battery. This works, but you probably won't be real happy with it.Your best bet is buy a lora board, battery, antenna and case as one sale, rather than try to piece everything together.

Unless you live in a large urban area, you are going to need 2 of these to experiment with. These are good units with the basic boards that lots of people are using for Meshtastic. Connect antenna and cables before flashing and see the Mestashtic website for detailed setup afterwards.

So far so good! Meshtastic loaded without a hitch with the Opera browser. Previous orders from other vendors had to be returned, because at least one of the Heltec V3 units wouldn't boot, or had a defective screen. Had these for over a week and they're working great.

Bought for festival - easily flashed with Meshtastic and worked as it should! I recommend upgrading battery capacity though.
