So, we have 55 gallon Rubber Maid barrels at like every gutter down spout and these mesh covers seem to be doing the trick to minimize mosquitoes. My first impression was cheap, but I installed them and they seem to be really good. And good value. Actually, now, pretty good buy. Happy. Happy Happy

A rain barrel is becoming a real solution to high water bills. But standing water does attract mosquitoes, and debris in the water ruins it for use. Since using this product, I have noticed fewer mosquitoes in the yard and clearer water.

These are nice, but the elastic isn’t strong enough to keep tension on the mesh so that the cover stays out of the water in the barrel. My barrels have an overflow drain a few inches below the rim but the debris weighs down the mesh until it sinks into the water. The elastic isn’t very strong. If you want to keep the mesh tight on top of your vessel, you will need something stronger like a giant rubber band, a very large cable tie, or a rope.

We purchased these for our rain barrels to filter out leaves, small twigs and other items from entering the rain barrels. They do a very good job of filtering out these items. I will purchase again when these wear out and would certainly recommend to others.
