These are powerful bulbs. Everything a healthy turtle needs. I have 1 mud, 1 musk, 1 painted and 1 map. 3 tanks, all three tanks have these bulbs. Vitamin's A and B

I buy these on New Year's and 4th of July every year for the Green Iguana, (Lawrence). They don't burn out in 6 months, but their production of the beneficial UVB does degrade over time. I buy new, put the old in the new box marked "used" and reuse them around the house when other bulbs blow. Larry self regulates between basking, these and just laying around the enclosure. These bulb or similar, are crucial for ensuring your Iguana doesn't end up suffering from MBD - Metabolic Bone Disease. I cannot stress that enough. Just a short period of time without enough UVB and your lizard could be looking at some serious health issues. Every 6 months seems to work fine for Larry. We live in Ohio, so Nov. through Jan. is basically a hundred days of grey. Making the UVB bulbs even more critical. Iguanas can be a challenge (3 years in and no way I recommend one for a beginner, IMHO) they can live into their 20's and get 6 feet long. Not to mention the mating cycles, tail whipping, bites, scratches and many other considerations. So a happy Iguana is a much easier Iguana to care for. And a happy Iguana requires proper UVB exposure. Get the bulbs and change them on the regular. Your lizard will appreciate it.

I cant speak to the specific longevity. Ive never been able to use one until it quit, so they last a long time. These are short bulbs for shallow lamps. Maybe 5 inches long including the fixture. This is NOT a heat bulb. Its for providing necessary UV rays, and should be used in tandem with a heat source. Bit pricey, but they do last.

I've never had to write a review like this, but the quality of product i just received compels me to warn others before buying from this seller(Luving Pets). I bought a 2 bulb package deal, great value for the money. I opened the shipping box containing the bulbs and was shocked to see they were not bubbled wrapped. Then, both individual, reptisun boxes were open and i could just slide the bulbs out? I was still hopeful though but my fears were proven true when i plugged them in and to see how dull they were. the one on the left is especially dull and flickers. I screwed them both in(took my basking bulb out) to show you guys how bad they are and the difference in both of them.
