These were absolutely perfect for my use. I wanted to mount a 6" vent fan to one of my square ridge vents to vent out hot air from the attic. I just made a small wall with a pair of gussets, hung it upside-down and mounted the fan directly in the vent. As strong as any other way i could have fabricated and I'll never have to worry about it. Even comes with some quality anchors which can be used on multiple materials. If I ever need to service the fan, it'll be really easy and mostly universal with these brackets spaced the way they are. Can also be used for duct work and double wall, which is probably what these brackets are more built for. Offset from the wall so there's not any contact with the perpendicular wall. Overall, a really good clamp that's mostly universal. When running directly to something, it just needs to be offset 2".
