The "O" is for open or OFF. The | is for Closed or ON. Both rocker switches that came in the purchase functioned backwords. Press on "O" and it turned ON. Press the | and it turned OFF. I was able to pry out the Rocker Mech and turn around to operate correctly when pressed. Please check your QA before shipping product!!

As another reviewer stated the controls are reversed. Press "O" and its on, press the "I" and it turns off.
