I only wish the access hole was larger. I had to purchase long thin tongs to extract veges. I also love how it has a variety of sizes in matching designs. I will be most concerned with the size of the access hole from now on.

I first got a 2.5L jar from another company (ASIN B09NYCRW94), and while I love that jar, it was a little too big for what I wanted to do with it. So I got this two-pack from Tessco and was a bit disappointed that the glass is not as thick. But the jars will work as long as I'm careful with them. What you see in the image is a set of white silicone collapsible funnels that work well to keep any stray pieces from floating above the brine without compromising the water-lock feature of the jars.

I find this is difficult to clean due to its shape and small opening. It looks pretty on the countertop, but It needs daily water-seal topping up or it loses its seal, and the ferment spoils. It also spills over onto the countertop when it begins to ferment. I think it is an item to be displayed, with jelly beans or something else inside. Amazon sells more utilitarian crocks that work much better. See the ceramic black one and two gallon crocks. They are more usable and they need topping of the water seal about once weekly. Thick glass, nice design, very functional. The neck is thin, and you can't stick hand inside to wash. Not great quality, the seam on one jarvwss offset, but it didn't affect function. Good way to pickle and store any product.
