I got these to replace some old "freeze plugs" on my inboard/outboard powerboat. There are a couple of ports that need to be sealed for the water to flow in, up the stern drive from the lake, cool the engine, and then flow out again. Thing is, you can't add antifreeze like you do in a car, because this is an "open system." It will retain water, and so "freeze plugs" are provided -- they should push out if ice forms inside the engine and so prevent the block from cracking, the worst possible outcome.These plugs will fit between 1/2-inch and 1" pipes or ports -- no bigger than that. Twisting the wingnut causes the rubber to expand for a tight fit.

This is a set of two boat winter drain plugs. These plugs are made from premium black rubber and have a tapered shape to fit 1/2" up to 1" drain holes. The tightening knob and washer are stainless steel for corrosion free seasonal usage. Use these plugs to keep water and bugs out when your boat is in winter storage. They expand to form a tight seal. These are not for use while the boat is in the water.Would recommend these to anyone.
