This is a stiff tear away backing used during embroidering. Some patches may be rigid. I really like it for aprons.

This stabilizer provides the stiffness and stability to make stitching designs onto fabric much easier. This is two big rolls of about 12"w, thick, stiff, easy to tear away stabilizer for embroidery. It helps prevent the fabric from slipping around, is easy to stitch through and, is similar to the texture and thickness of construction paper. All I needed to do, was pin or stitch it around the edges then, stitch my design. It was easy to tear away, holding a fingernail down at the edges of the stitching to prevent pulling out or putting stress on my stitches while, tearing away the stabilizer with my other hand.

This medium weight tear away stabilizer was easy to hoop and provided enough stability that my project stitched out nicely. The 12-inch width is perfect for my 6x10" hoop. The price is hard to beat for the large quantity. I should be well-stocked with tear-away for a good while, and I would buy again.

It is not soft, but I personally like that because it tears very easily and cleanly, no fuzzy edges. Stabilizes stitches great.
