This set is fun and great for curious kids! It comes with the essentials, butterfly net, insect clips, tweezers and a great little insect box with a magnifying glass and ventilation holes. My kiddos love using it to catch and observe bugs on hikes, and it's a great way for kids to learn about nature. The only downside is that everything is rather small, I would say that this set is for toddlers. Also, the clips on the insect box are difficult for kids to open, though there is a flap on the top to put bugs in, it's a bit more difficult to get them out.

This is a really cute set that comes with all the bug catch tools needed to catch all the bugs you can. They are easy to open and close even for little fingers. Besides my kiddos losing certain pieces of the set - they have been very sturdy. They have even buried them in our dirt pile and they haven't broke so that is a huge plus. I like how it is clear so you can view your critters without them escaping. There is a magnifying glass on the top lid that helps you examine your critters. Depending on your kids dexterity the tweezers may be harder for younger kids but they will be an excellent tool to help build those fine motor skill muscles in the hand. I've got 4 kiddos ages 3, 6, 9, & 14 and this kit has been a hit with all 4 of them (besides them arguing over who gets use what it's a huge hit). This is a very educational tool for kiddos and if you have a bug book that helps the kids identify who they have trapped. This is a quality kit and is a reasonable price. These would make good gifts for kiddos.

My children are in love with these 2 sets of bug catching equipment! They are much better quality than the ones I previously purchased from our dollar store. (They weren’t actually $1.) The price point was pretty close so I think it’s somewhat fair to compare them. These 2 plastic “cages” are much better quality. They look and feel like they will hold up a lot better than others have in the past. I know my kids are a little rougher than average so I don’t expect them to last forever but so far they are holding up well. The plastic is pretty thick and must not crack super easily- I say that based on the fall from the bike that the green cage took yesterday. No cracks, nothing broke.. a little scratch but that’s to be expected after hitting concrete.The straps feel sturdy. I pulled on both pretty hard and neither one came undone from any connection point. (This is amazing bc that’s also how the lids are held on.. and I don’t need any critters loose in my house!!)The colors are great! I appreciate that a 2 pack was offered and that they were offered in several color combinations. I have a 7 yo. son and 5 yo. daughter so the pack with pink & green was perfect for us!The “scissors” designed for picking up/catching bugs is made pretty well. Again, ours are both still in tact after 2 long days of play.The nets are the weak point, in my opinion. I’m glad it came with them because I believe the nets are necessary for bug catchin’ but it feels a little cheap-ish. My kids aren’t scared to pick up a bug (although I wish they were sometimes..) so the “just okay” net isn’t a deal breaker for us.I’ll also point out that the little magnifying glass/window area on the top of the container is a nice touch. I love that it gets my kids excited and interested in science, basically. I love anything that can get them away from their tablets and phones so this is a win!

I love that this is a set that has two of everything in it. You can either keep one as a backup in case something happens to the first one, or it's perfect for a pair of siblings to each enjoy their own bug-catching adventures. Comes with two, 4-piece sets that include: a bug catcher container (the size of medium Tupperware), large plastic tweezers, large "bubble" end tweezers (Perfect for not squishing bugs), and a short-handled bug net. Each container has a crossbody strap for easy carrying, a built-in magnifying glass that works rather well, and a click shut "locking" door to dump the critters into the container. Has ventilation holes so everything can breathe. Truly, a perfect set for a beginning outdoor critter explorer and enthusiast. The collection container is pretty sturdy plastic that seems like it can handle some pretty decent drops, which is much appreciated when kids are involved. The only thing that would elevate this bug catching set is if there was a place to store the two different types of tweezers and net, on either the container or the strap, but that's just being super nit-picky. Depending on your needs, I don't think you can go wrong with this set, especially given the price - great value! I love that it encourages outdoor play and exploration - totally winning in my book!

The kids are loving this kit so far. The straps for the boxes are holding up well and nothing has broken in the first hour of play with a 5 year old, so this is a good sign. The design of the hinges of the catcher is good; it doesn't look prone to easy breakage. The holes on the boxes are large enough to let ants and small spiders out, but at least you don't have to worry about kids breaking it as much as you would have to if it were mesh fabric. The built in magnifier has a fair amount of distortion, but it works.

These are so cute, and I love that they came in a 2 pack because I have 2 boys. It comes with 2 complete sets of tools to help capture the bugs to place into the bug homes. I will say the bug homes are pretty small but to me that isn't a bad thing, it even includes a strap, so you are able to wear the bug homes around your neck or on your shoulder while hunting for bugs. As soon as my kids saw these, they got so excited and immediately took them out back to go hunting for bugs. Everything seems like it is pretty sturdy, and I think it is super cool that the top piece has a built-in magnifying glass.
