I have 6 metal stands, that my very heavy speakers sit on, and I was thinking of the same for plant stands. So when I saw these, I decided to take a chance. I was surprised when they arrived as they were all plastic. The ones I had been looking at were metal. Only 2 pieces to put together, so no directions needed. Just screw the platform on the tripod. I will be using these as plant stands in my hydroponic setup, to get a couple more plants under the grow lights. And since they are height adjustable, I can position the plant at the ideal height, saving me from having to adjust the lights. For my purposes they will work fine, but I do have some concerns. You have adjustments on the stands that are threaded into plastic. Since the plastic is so lightweight, it would be fairly easy to strip the screws if not careful. And the stability is questionable. I put a 7 lb plant on the stand, and the platform tipped slightly with the weight. Checked to make sure everything was tight, but it still tipped unless the plant was dead center. So the platform assembly and tightening knobs allow some wobbling to occur. I don't think I would go over 10 lbs of weight on the platform to be safe. The higher you went with the tripod, the more pronounced the wobble. Now the plant was never in danger of falling or sliding off, and it never moved on the platform. But the lack of rigidity just left me with an uneasy feeling about the stability. I much prefer metal, and for the same price or less, there are lots of metal stands available.

Are you always trying to find somewhere to put the projector when you use it. Maybe putting it on a table and stacking up Amazon boxes to get it positioned right. We don't have phone books anymore to put it on. With this tripod stand the problem is solved. Place it wherever you need the projector, raise it to the proper height, grab some popcorn and you're ready to go.
