Great idea. The blue handle screws into the bottom of the basket. Most of the time, I just grab the handle but when it's cold or particularly full of bugs/frogs/snakes, I'll get the hook. I can see times when the basked is really full and hard to lift that I may get both hooks and grab the sides to pull it out. One of the hooks was not perfectly formed in manufacturing and left a sharp edge.

Our system only has one basket, so the second one is in storage as a backup in the event something happens to the first one. These seem well constructed so I expect it will last quite a while. The handle is also very easy to install and remove. These are really great for emptying the skimmer basket. The only drawback is that we either have to puncture a skimmer sock or not use them to have the handle.We are currently not using the handle during pool clean-up because we're using socks on the basket, but once it is clean, clear, and ready to go for summer fun, I'm going to reinstall the handle. It's going to be great to have the handle. Especially since on very rare occasions there is a small snake in the skimmer basket! Having extra distance from the basket itself is great for avoiding close encounters with anything alive that might have fallen into the pool. We're all very happy to have the handle and the hook to grab it with!
