I recently replaced my old pump with this 2.0 HP 6557 GPH Pool Pump, and it has exceeded my expectations. Right out of the box, the build quality felt solid. It includes both 1.5" and 2" pipe fittings, which made it easy to adapt to my existing setup. Installation took less than an hour.Once running, the self-priming feature worked flawlessly and got water circulating quickly. The motor is surprisingly quiet for its power level—far less noise than my previous unit—and the 1500W energy-saving design gives me peace of mind that it’s not running up the power bill. I’ve seen a noticeable improvement in water clarity and flow throughout the system. The built-in strainer basket is generously sized and easy to remove and clean, which helps catch debris before it reaches the filter. And the UL certification gives me extra confidence in its safety and reliability.Overall, this is an excellent, high-performance pool pump that works great for both inground and above-ground systems. It’s well worth the investment if you want strong water flow, efficient energy use, and quiet operation.

I purchased an above-ground pool from a large retail store, which included its own filtration system. It utilized cartridge filters, and frankly, as the weather warmed, I had to replace the cartridge daily, and it still failed to adequately clean the pool. This spring, I replaced the costly cartridge filter system with a pump and sand filter system. I now understand that the previous filtration system was insufficient for my pool's size. This new sand filter and pump system truly delivers impressive results! Its powerful pump efficiently circulates water through the pressurized sand filter, significantly faster than my previous system. While I'm not particularly knowledgeable about these systems, the installation process was straightforward enough for me to complete independently. The new pump and filter are only slightly larger than my old ones, so I easily placed them on the existing pavers. I'm pleased to report that the system operates at a similar noise level to my old system, but it's far more efficient and effective at removing smaller particles from the water. Consequently, I'm already using fewer pool chemicals to maintain proper water balance (pH, hardness, free chlorine, etc.). I'm extremely satisfied with this system and wish I had obtained it sooner. It offers exceptional value for its price. I'm delighted that I no longer need to replace filter cartridges.

I got the 12 inch, 1/2 HP combo. In my personal opinion, most pools come with pumps that are too small. So when it's time to upgrade, it's usually a good idea to size up with something like this KioGro pump/filter combo, or an Aquastrong pump/filter combo. This is a 12 inch sand filter which requires 40 pounds of sand (not included). Some people use polyester pool filter balls, but I recommend sticking with sand for a variety of reasons. This also has a 1/2 HP pump, which is quiet, self-priming, and reliable. This has everything in the box that you would need to replace your pump or install a new pool. The tank requires only 2 steps for assembly - attach the lateral to the multiport valve, and then install valve. Then connect the hoses to the pump, and that's about all there is to it. The included instruction booklet is clear, and includes illustrations.I'll mention the two shortcomings, in my opinion at least.First, the hoses are a tad on the short side, but you can re-use your old hoses, get new longer hoses if necessary, or mend with your existing hoses to make longer.Second, this doesn't have a timer - a feature which I always think is worth the few extra bucks. But overall I still give this a thumbs up.

We've been using this 12-inch sand filter pump for the last 2 weeks, and I'm very pleased with its performance! The half horsepower pump has a strong flow. You can see the water moving across the surface of the pool so it provides good circulation. I especially like that this pump is on the quieter side. The noise level is tolerable and easy to tune out while swimming! This is a nice setup for above ground pools, and I'd recommend it to others. Thank you!

This item shipped and arrived fast. This 2 horse power 115 volt pump has an plug in cord for a wall type outlet. The pump inlet and outlet ports have I.D and O.D threads to work with all sizes and types of hoses and standard pool fittings. This pump also comes with a hose adapter kit for the inlet and outlet ports. The pump, motor, and filter housing are all well made. The filter housing has a drain plug, strainer basket and the pump motor has a grounding point to hook up to grounding rods. Our pump died at the end of last years pool season and this is it's replacement. I was able to get a few bolts hooked up on this universal pump to our old sand filter base plate so the pump is secure and tight. Installation was very easy for me just replacing the pump in our existing system. It is not quite pool weather yet so I only ran the motor a few seconds but it was quiet and I know it will outperform our old 1.5 HP pump. Overall this pool pump is well made and has a nice output GPM to keep up with our 18,000 gallon above ground pool. The cost was fair. I rated this item 5 stars.

This is a solid pump. It pumps water as expected. The impeller housing is assembled with nuts and bolts, seems easy to disassemble if necessary. The filter housing cover is mechanically compatible with others. Water inlet and outlet fittings are normal and adaptable. One item to note is the mounting, by a flange on the impeller housing, not on the motor as is typical. It may not fit your existing mounting screw locations. I will have to drill new screw holes.
