There's a big problem here, and it took a couple of days to manifest. For those of you who are not tech savvy, my advice to you is to stay away from this device, unless you really hate yourself :-)What happens is that this device has it's own DHCP server. It takes on the name of your primary network, and adds "-plus" to it. In other words, if your existing network SSID is "misfit", it creates "misfit-plus" for the SSID of the repeater, It also uses the same network password. If your networks uses the 192.168.0.xxx network, the repeater and creates its own network 192.168.ππ¬.xxx. Notice that bold "ππ¬", because that's going to create all your problemsAt first, everything seems to be working great. However, after the lease expires on your main router, and devices connected to your network want to renew their lease, the repeater renews the lease and gives the device an address on the 192.168.ππ¬.xxx network. The devices keep their network SSID as "misfit", but for some reason get their address from the DHCP of the "misfit-plus" network. Why this device allows it to connect when the SSID doesn't match is a mystery, unless the request comes through the main router and somehow the repeater then serves the address??? But because of that mismatch, you're never going to connect to the internet.Like I mentioned, It doesn't happen immediately because devices on the main network will keep their addresses until their lease expires, so this creates more confusion. Devices start dropping off the network one by one because of the SSID/IP mismatch.Worse, when you disconnect and forget the network in the device you want to connect, when trying to establish a new connection to the "misfit" network, the repeater is first to assign a DHCP address. Another mismatch, and no connection. The device will report that it's connected to 192.168.ππ¬.xxx network. So, after a day or so of dropping all 4 of my Roku sticks, the Ooma, everybody's cell phone, etc., the only way out of this nightmare is to assign a static address in the main router via the device's MAC address. And, thinking that my router's DHCP server stopped working, I ordered a new router, and still had the same problem.Going back to the repeater, I manually programmed a new password so that existing devices requesting an IP won't connect to the repeater, the repeater was no longer functional, and had to be defaulted to try again. The bottom line? I'm sending it back and using the new router to create a mesh that will extend my network.
