For the kiddos at my wife's preschool, she likes to bury things in the sandbox and let the little ones "discover" the items. We got these faux bones for exactly that purpose. We were a little disappointed in the size, they are only about 5 inches long when we thought they would be almost double that. They still work and the kids still like them but they could be better sized.

These say mini, but they are a good size. You could make necklaces out of them easily. They each come with a pre-drilled hole, but you can use them for many other things. We used them for Halloween, but then we used them for a Pirate themed party after that.
