After an installment of a deep kitchen sink I had to re-route my drain in very tight quarters. This ratchet shear cut the 2" schedule 40 pipe like butter, no strees on the pipes what so ever, I ordered and within a day it was delivered. It is a very good value for price I paid and I am sure they will last me a lifetime.

This item worked well for a few cuts on schedule 40, 1.5" and 2" pipe, then quickly broke. It might be ok for DWV, but the jaws bent out of alignment and the cutter became useless. A waste of money.

Item description: 2.5 inch plastic pipe cutterBrand: NOEAIKEItem: B0CYZ7CC46Date received: 2023-05-19Headline - Chevron-style blade makes quick work of plastic pipeProduct Claims1 count, metal-framed plastic pipe cutter, 2-1/2 inch diameter capacityThe product came well-packaged in bubble-style commercial-style shelf packaging with a pasteboard back. I did NOT test the max size capacity, but in a test cut this unit made quick work of 1-inch PVC pipe, easily producing a very clean cut with little effort. This cutter has a handle-end plastic latch that holds the cutter closed; as soon as you grip and squeeze the cutter the latch automatically opens. (I was not a fan of the latch versus other types, but it works.) You then need to start opening the grip, at which point the blade autotretracts to the fully open position - you do NOT need to pull it fully open with your own effort. The cutter handle has a blade plastic grip on each outer surface; I think it would be better if it was rubberized versus hard plastic. From the fully open position you will have to pull the grip closed (executing one ratchet with each grip closure) 15 times to fully close a cut (regardless of size). For smaller sized pipe the first few ratchet pulls of the grip are effortless - those pulls just move the blade to the initial touch with the pipe. For example, on 1-inch diameter PVC, the cutter required 7 ratchet pulls to close the blade to the the pipe to start the process; cutting the pipe used the next 8 ratchet pulls to perform and complete the cut.The blade style used on this cutter is not the straight blade most often used on other model plastic pipe cutters; this cutter uses a chevron shaped blade that has a corner point that intersects the approximate center of the pipe. This creates a distinct advantage by digging into the pipe quickly, locking it down, and it starts the shearing cut quickly, and allows each subsequent ratchet to focus the energy on widening the cut versus creating an initial penetration. An additional benefit was the PTFE low-friction coating on the blade. This is great cutter, but I have to take off a star for the plastic latch (a metal loop would be more certain) and the hard plastic grip (something rubberized would be less slippery).

This product is a replacement for my old one and it works great. Living in an area that’s has a lot of pvc, is needed from time to time. Saves money for the DYI person.

Surprised with the good reviews, tool is cheaply made, did not cut straight, blade is weak material ,I ended up using this to just score pipe and twist to cut then had to use separate tool to sand flush. Look for better quality of this

Cuts clean, not perfectly 90 degrees. No burs. It’s great for what I am using it for. I’ll still give it 5 stars.
