Item immediately failed (under 1 minute) and the relay started melting. The relay is complete garbage and dangerous as it could've caused an electrical fire. Using a multimeter, the capacitor (black piece) did properly read 12 micro farads. Capacitor was also able to hold charge. I'm glad I read the other review and made sure I kept an eye on it post installation. Also lucky the relay didn't damage my refrigerator compressor.

I installed this relay and capacitor set to replace the original that went bad in my Maytag refrigerator. I installed it at night and wanted to give the refrigerator time to come up to proper temperature overnight. A few hours later while I was asleep in bed, my daughter woke me up saying that something smelled like it was burning in the kitchen. I ran into the kitchen and could tell that the smell was coming from the back of the refrigerator. There was a high amount of heat in that area where I installed the relay / capacitor, so I removed the new one I installed earlier. That’s when I noticed that the relay was melting. The product is inferior to the original. Who knows if it would have started a fire while we were asleep if my daughter wasn’t awake and didn’t smell it.I would not trust this product and I think it should be removed from the market.In my pictures, the original is the yellowish one. This product newly installed is the grey one. You can see where it warped from melting.
