I'm pretty cheap. For years I used a DIY fume extractor cobbled together from a box and a PC case fan. I used sheets of carbon filter material (usually only a quarter the thickness of these) that I trimmed to size as needed. Eventually, needing more power and utility, I upgraded to a KOTTO extractor (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZHH5H7N) that works amazingly and still uses the same 12cm filter size I had been used to. I started doubling up the filter media, which was ⅛" thick. These pre-cut filters are nearly half an inch thick, which is way more effective at cleaning the air. At best, I would get around half as many filters (that are only half as thick) for the same price by cutting my own, so I have switched to these now that I am out of the sheets I was using.Having them ready-to-use has definitely led me to switch out filters more often. That does increase my costs, but it also improves my comfort and better protects my health. I cut the box these filters were delivered in to form a dispenser that I keep at my workbench, which makes grabbing a new filter casually easy. It also gives me a visual reminder to check my filters.

I’m really happy with these 24 Pack Activated Carbon Filter Replacement Refills for my solder smoke trap absorber. The filters fit perfectly into my 4.7 x 4.7 inches fan unit, and they work great at absorbing fumes during my DIY soldering projects. The activated carbon does a fantastic job at capturing the smoke and smells, so my workspace stays much cleaner and fresher.I’ve been using these for a while now, and they hold up really well—each filter lasts a good amount of time before needing a replacement. The fact that I get 24 refills in one pack is such a good deal, and it means I’m set for quite a while. If you’re into soldering or any activity that produces fumes, I highly recommend these replacement filters. They do exactly what they’re supposed to do, and they’re an essential part of keeping your work area safe and comfortable.
